The New Year Gets Underway

It's normal for there to be a lull over the Christmas period but things are building up into the New Year. A lot of people crammed into the Telmere Lodge in Chesterfield to have an overwhelmingly successful night in aid of Cystic Fybrosis Trust. I don't know the sum of money raised but it was well in excess of £1000. If you are looking for a Saturday then the earlist bookings are in May at this time. As usual you need to book early to get the date you want.

Wow, what a success

On Saturday 25th October I was proud to assist in the most successful fund raising event that I have done. The evening, organised by Alexander Forbes Trustee Services, was in Aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care and the amount raised was in EXCESS OF £2500. The night took place at Notts County Football Ground and was well attended. I was kinda stopped in my tracks during the auction when a lady bid £100 to buy a horse. Well done Darren for organising such a successful event.

Latest news

Whats been happening over the last few weeks. Well I have assisted a Scout and Guide group who raised around £900, two cricket clubs who both used the Race Night as an added attraction at their presentation night, a lady raising money for Macmillan Nurses and a Dance Class to raise money for a trip to Ireland to take part in the UK competition. I also received a lovely thank you card from a young lady who ran a Race Night to raise money for a Children's Foundation in Tanzania (where she is currently working) saying that she raised £950 from the event. Remember book well in advance to give yourself plenty of time to raise funds before your event.

Two very successfull weekends

On Saturday 11th September I was at Church Aston, Nr Newport delivering a Race Night in aid of disabled children in Uganda. The event was fabulously well attended (in fact we could not have got any more people in the hall). A few of the organisers were nervous but I think they soon forgot that once we got underway. The organiser of the event has spent a lot of time over the last 10 years years helping this cause. I received an email from her thanking me and letting me know that they raised £1080 from the event - hows about that then !!

Saturday 18th September I was at the British legion in Willenhall and the event was in aid of The Legion Lions Under 11's football team. Again really well attended and whilst I do not know the final figure the tote alone raised a profit of nearly £400.

This last weekend

On Thursday 26th August I delivered a Race Night in Halifax for a young lady who is devoting a large part of her life to helping children in Tanzania. The evening was to raise money for a childrens foundation where the young lady has already spent time and soon she will be going out there permanently. The evening raised over £800 and here is an email she sent to me

"I just wanted to say a big thankyou for last Thursday's Race Night. I've had such good feedback from the night, and you made it memorable and a success.

Many, many thanks again, and i will be in touch no doubt for another next year,

Thanks again!"

On Friday night I was helping the Albion FC in Wall Heath raise money for Club Funds - thanks for the hamburgers Ashley (the organiser was also doing a barbecue).

On Saturday night I was back at the West End Band Club in Crewe - this was my third visit there and we are doing it again in December. I feel quite at home there now - a lovely bunch of people. We played Deal or No Deal and the contestant won the top prize of £20.

Busy Weekend

Just finished three Race Nights on the trot (ha ha bit of a joke that). Thursday night I was at Queen Mary's Grammar School in Walsall. The event was a fund raiser but also to bring people together to assist in raising funds for a cricket trip to New Zealand in 2012. The event was well attended by parents.

During the week I received a phone call from Nether Whitacre Cricket Club. It seems that they had been let down by another Race Night operator. The event was planned for Friday and luckily I was free. Wow what an event it was too. This was close to the most attended event that I have done and I was kept busy!! Remarkable the tote alone raised over £460 which is quite an achievement.

Saturday night was Old Dial Football Club in Stourbridge. This is a new football team and the aim was to raise a bit of money but also to get the team together. A really pleasant night was had and whilst they didn't raise vast sums they were happy. Occasionally in races we have outsiders where few people have backed a particular runner which means that the prize is high and occasionally these big prizes are won. One lucky chap won two races where he was the outsider winning £20 on one race and £21 on another - much to the disgruntlement of everyone else - but it's all in fun !!

The last couple of months

Oops - not been keeping this up to date. Well whats been happening over the last few weeks. On Saturday Night I was at The Mallard in Brookside, Telford to help The Mallard Football Club have an entertaining Presentation Evening. The event was well attended and I even got a kiss at the end of the night !! Must have done a good job. On Friday 25th June it was another football team The Rose and Crown in Gainsborough who also had a presentation evening.

Thursday 17th June it was Fun Money to celebrate a 40th birthday in Chelmsley Wood. A really nice family celebration which we captured a little on video. See the video on the home page of the website.

Friday 11th June I was fortunate to help a lady who is going to Kitgum in North Uganda on a mission. Jackie worked really hard and ended up with a very successful night.
